CHS Athletic Boosters
Minutes-October 10, 2005
Meeting called to order at 7:06 pm.
In attendance: David Kawamoto, Judy Hill, Mercy Haley, Judy Namanny, Karin Tanaka, Margaret Headrick, Norma LaBrie, Nancy Boyle.
Minutes from the September 12 meeting were approved as written. Motion made by Judy Namanny, seconded by Judy Hill.
Student Report: Karin Tanaka reported that the Varsity Athletes-of-the-Month for September were
Derrik Jarvis (Water Polo) and Sumika Shiokawa (Cross Country). No JV athletes were chosen. It was decided by the Athletic Commissioners to choose one male and female JV athlete for the entire Fall season.
Fall Sports Awards Night will be on November 17th in the Theater.
Treasurer’s Report: Balance on hand is $13,579, with recent income of approximately $820 from cloth sales, $85 from programs and $2000 from concessions at Football games thus far.
Dave Kawamoto asked to be reimbursed $1735 for cloth orders of the embroidered sweatshirts which he covered this fall. Motion made by Nancy Boyle, seconded by
Judy Hill and passed.
Vice President’s Report: Sales at the Football barbecues has been good, with a profit of $2019.74 for the Hillsdale, Sobrato, Evergreen and Los Altos games. Will need more help for the Homecoming game.
Sweatshirts: $700 in profit from orders this year. Will place an order soon to cover ordered items which we don’t have on hand.
President’s Report: Golf Tournament
*Dave has enlisted the help of the following volunteers thus far: Pam Hershey(Alumni liaison), Tom Haley(will contact past class presidents), Gary Stainthorpe(corporate contacts), Mike Page and Tom Williams (golfers).
*Holly Hill will organize the appetizers, snacks and drinks.
*Dave still needs volunteers to organize the silent auction. Especially would like to see more items in the $50-$100 range.
*A letter will be drafted to send to all coaches asking for volunteers for the Tournament, and also outlining to the coaches how the profit from the tournament will be allocated.
*Parameters need to be developed and publicized concerning the coaches’ wish lists and how funds are allocated for the wish lists.
Athletic Report: Judy reported that Cheryl Blatt has been hired to coach JV girls soccer. We still need Badminton coaches, and coaches for JV Softball and JV boys tennis.
The coaches’ salary scale has been adjusted so that walk-on coaches now receive the same salary that certified staff coaches receive
Membership: Eight new memberships have been received.
Next meeting to be held on November 14, 2005.
