Student Report: Karin Tanaka reported that the Athletic Commissioners have e-mailed a message to all of the coaches concerning the Athlete-of-the-Month nomination process. They included their expectations regarding nominations, and information regarding qualifications for Athlete-of-the-Year,(all Varsity athletes are eligible).

Treasurer’s Report: Food sales at the Sports night, scrimmage and first football game were good. The profit from Sports Orientation and the scrimmage was $605.26, and from the Sobrato game was $750.48.

The September account summary was presented.

The Athletic Boosters submitted a bid for the Tournament of Bands concession. The concession was given to the dance team.

A motion was made to approve expenditures not-to-exceed $1000 for food and supplies for the next three football barbecues. Motion made by Mercy Haley, seconded by Judy Hill, and passed.

Sweatshirts: Marion has four boxes of old inventory on hand(the old style gray fleece sweatshirts). Inventory of last year’s apparel has been done. Gold -embroidered sweatshirts have been re-ordered. Dave will carry the cost of the re-order until the inventory is sold. Can still do special orders for other items. Will sell clothing at next four home games and Back-to-school-night.

Athletic Report: Craig Ellegood reported that the concession stand was not clean after one game and had to be cleaned prior to use by another school.

President’s Report: Dave Kawamoto discussed the need to recruit more parents to help out with both sweatshirt sales and the barbecues at the games. The group expressed the feeling that the coaches should be approached and asked to recruit at least one parent from their teams to attend Boosters’ meetings. This would hopefully increase parent participation in Boosters’ activities. Perhaps the allocations to the Coaches’ wish lists in the future will reflect the level of membership and participation by parents of students on the teams.

A committee is needed to help organize the 2nd Annual Golf Tournament. A meeting will be held with Cary Matsuoka in October to start planning. It was proposed that the Athletic Boosters host the Tournament this year. A motion was made to this effect and was passed with 6 votes in favor and 2 abstentions.

The canopy for the Athletic Boosters was donated by Michelle Smith. A motion was made to re-allocate the money previously approved for purchase of the canopy to a new Boosters banner.( Not to exceed $150). The motion passed.

New Business: Mercy is having programs made for the Football games. They will be sold for $2.00.

Meeting Adjourned at 8:22 pm.
